Media Rights  Institute  (MRI) conducted  a survey to study the reality of  situation of  freedom of information in Azerbaijan as well as  to prepare recommendations that will assist the  government with the work carried out  in this direction and published annual report on  “Access to public  information” (2009).

The report studied the related web pages of state bodies with the basic   principles of freedom of information.So, according to MRI’s  report,  the official Internet portal of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies  of the Republic of Azerbaijan (www.mincom.gov.az) is settled in the first place in the rating table. Ministry’s press service told RIYAD MEDIA that collecting 58 points as a consequence of this survey MCIT portal  surpassed  Internet pages of all other state websites.

We would like to mention that MRI conducted monitoring on resource deployment of 100 types of information. Moreover, such parameters as completeness of information, easy access, relevance and social significance of information were taken into account during the monitoring. MCIT portal is followed by the Ministry of Taxes (57 points) and Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (50 points).
